CORPO FREUDIANO VANCOUVER SCHOOL
Belonging to Corpo Freudiano Vancouver: Lacanian School of Psychoanalysis means working together to create spaces for intellectual and analytic praxis for those interested in sustaining the possibility of psychoanalytic discourse in this region.
CFV is committed to the transmission of psychoanalysis and the formation of analysts. We are sustained by the works of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan, and associated with Corpo Freudiano, a psychoanalytic school founded in 1994 in Brazil.
Our School provides the necessary conditions to assume responsibility for one’s own formation alongside others. The authorization of an analyst comes as a result of their trajectory and in following their desire, a desire that becomes public through engagement with the school.
Through the specificity of psychoanalytic praxis, we intervene into diverse fields, including contemporary mental health discourses. We are concerned with the socio-political state of our world, and we converse with the arts, philosophy, critical theory, and poetic discourses. We value the rigorous articulation of theory, without being orthodox.
In the analytic permanent formation we offer a companionship, an asylum or refuge from cultural desolation, standing against those discourses and practices that oppress by forcing consensus and the terror of mastery.

WHAT IS THE RIGHT PROGRAM FOR ME?
Basic Formation
The basic formation is two years. Each year is divided into two terms, made up of 16 work sessions of 3 hours each plus a biweekly open discussion session, facilitated by a range of scholars and clinicians. This is an introduction to the fundamentals of psychoanalysis through the work of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan. It consists of six modules to be taken over a minimum of two years, facilitated by experienced scholars and practitioners.
Modules: Formation of the Analyst; Real, Symbolic and Imaginary; Transference and Repetition; the Unconscious and the Drive, Castration, Oedipus and Beyond; Clinical Structures.
Cartels: Members of the basic formation will be encouraged to create and or participate with others in an ongoing cartel, which subsequently will be presented publicly on the topic discussed and inquired with others (cartel presentations). Cartels serve as experimental, non-hierarchical spaces for collaborative research and production.
Written work and presentation: Members must submit and present two works per year at the annual meetings—either academic papers or creative/artistic works related to their research.
Participation in activities of related fields: Participants are expected to actively participate in Speaker Series, Freud / Lacan Salons, and related field activities such as Conferences and Colloquiums.
Who Should Apply: Anyone interested or curious about psychoanalysis.
Permanent Formation
Permanent formation of the analyst is a continuous endeavour, ongoing and becoming. This program is for those who have finished their basic formation with us and or have a established trajectory with psychoanalysis, be it through with working transferences (peers or schools linked to psychoanalytical fields) or your own personal analysis.
Activities: Acceptance to permanent formation implies being an active member of Corpo Freudiano Vancouver and establishing a close connection and social bond with us in order to co-create and collaborate in the transmission of psychoanalysis. You will be encouraged to attend and participate in cartels, speakers series, art related activities, as well, in the facilitation of workshops and salons.
Who Should Apply: Anyone with a established relationship and or transference with the psychoanalytical field.
